Our Translation Studies program, established in 2011 with the official authorization of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, stands as a proud pillar of academic excellence. Anchored in the esteemed "Foreign Languages and Literatures" research hub for humanities and social sciences within Zhejiang's higher education institutions, and bolstered by Zhejiang's elite disciplinary status, we are further empowered by the Zhejiang Institute of Translation Studies. Our mission is to cultivate top-tier professionals who excel in both the theory and practice of translation.

In recent years, our faculty has made significant strides in research, with over 100 papers published in esteemed journals like Chinese Translators Journal, Journal of Foreign Languages, Babel, and Meta. Additionally, we have authored 65 works, encompassing monographs, translations, edited volumes, and textbooks, showcasing our depth and breadth of expertise. Our research endeavors are robust, with 6 ongoing projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation and over 20 provincial or ministerial-level projects. This dedication to research has earned us more than 10 provincial-level or higher teaching and research awards, underscoring our commitment to academic excellence.

At the helm of our program is Professor Tu Guoyuan, a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor. Our faculty is a powerhouse of knowledge, featuring 6 professors and 6 associate professors, with 5 holding doctoral degrees. Our academic leadership is exemplified by key figures such as Professors Xin Hongjuan, Liang Zhenhui, He Ying, Liao Jing, Nan Zuomin, and Fu Rongbo, who guide and inspire our students with their expertise and passion.

We offer three vibrant research directions for our students to explore:

1. Translation Theory ResearchUncovering the foundational principles and evolving theories that shape the art and science of translation.

2. Literary Translation ResearchDelving into the nuances of translating literary works, preserving their essence while adapting them to new cultural contexts.

3. Applied Translation ResearchExamining the practical applications of translation in various fields, from business to law, and how it facilitates cross-cultural communication.
